Hope Springs for People

When a community gains access to clean water, everything changes: children grow healthier, families thrive, and futures become possible.

Caltu

Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, but for many girls in rural Ethiopia, it’s just out of reach.

Meet Caltu, a 10-year-old girl from a mountainous village in central Ethiopia. Her dream is simple: to go to school. But every day, that dream is postponed by the pressing needs of survival.

Every morning before the sun rises, Caltu gathers firewood and walks 45 minutes with her younger sister to fetch water from a 40-foot-deep hand-dug well. Together, they haul a 40-pound jerry can of water back home. By the time chores are done, there’s no time for school.

“If I had safe water near my home, I could finish my work and still go to school,” she says.

This year, you can help make Caltu’s dream a reality.  By supporting Hope Springs Water, you’re bringing clean water closer to homes, giving girls like Caltu the chance to learn, grow, and thrive.

Did you know?

  • 75% of Ethiopian women are illiterate.
  • Only 65% of Ethiopian girls complete primary school, and just 25% attend secondary school.
  • Many marry young—75% before the age of 17.
  • Lack of clean water, toilets, and sanitary pads are major obstacles keeping girls like Caltu out of the classroom.

Together, we can change lives, one drop at a time.

Deep Wells That Serve For Generations

Hand-dug wells are vulnerable to contamination. Families collect water from sources that make them sick. Hope Springs Water changes this by drilling deep, sealed boreholes that deliver abundant, pure water—year after year.

Our wells aren’t a temporary fix. They’re infrastructure that serves communities for decades, bringing better health, reducing waterborne disease, and giving families time back (no more hours spent walking for water).
