This Saturday 20th July The TUXEDO CATS will be rocking the Texan here in Athens to help raise funds for HOPE SPRINGS WATER. With their eclectic mix of classic rock and country it will be a foot tapping, hip swinging, singalong night that will put a spring back in even the weariest step.

We’re passionate about keeping you updated on how you are making an impact with us.
ETHIOPIA - It is an exciting time of expansion and growth here at Hope Springs Water, and that is especially true for our team in Ethiopia.
Four wells have been funded so far this year, with two already completed and two more in progress, plus great progress has been made on a sanitation unit at a primary school in Teji.
With a lot of professional input, we have decided to start using PDC drill bits in all our locations. These not only help us to drill through rocky ground more easily, but also reduce wear and tear on the drilling rigs.
The biggest news is that we are moving our equipment storage area in Ethiopia to Tulu Bolo which gives us easier access to 5 more counties and thousands of people who will benefit from fresh water, improved sanitation and health and hygiene education. We have been offered a piece of land that is ideal for our relocation, and have already started to build a new sanitation system at the primary school in Teji.
Our Executive Director, Programs Director and Board Chairman will be traveling to Ethiopia on the 21st July to finalize the arrangements.
We estimate it will cost around $20,000 to build the compound and set up security, so that we can safely continue our work and move into this new season. Please consider helping to support this initiative.
Meanwhile, our HFL team just also completed WASHCO (WaSH Committee) training for several communities where we have recently drilled wells. This training allows local teams to maintain the hand pumps ensuring trouble free use for years to come.
Our Team were not able to do the training in the villages where the wells were drilled due to security issues, but they were able to bring the team together in Teji for the training.

NICARAGUA
We have been able to send two teams to Nicaragua so far in 2024 and we have one more trip planned for October.
Drilling for water is not always easy, and our first team experienced mechanical difficulties with the rig which meant that they weren't able to drill to the full depth and so had to cap the water well to be completed by the next drilling team.
In April the second team was (thankfully) able to fix the equipment due to a generous donation from one of our suppliers. That enabled them to complete the first well, and install a pump and platform.
This experience in Nicaragua was confirmation to us that PDC drill bits should be used wherever possible.
The team also carried out a full inventory of Hope Spring Water’s equipment helping us to identify surplus equipment that could be donated, and make a list of essential supplies that we need to procure and keep on hand.
Finally the drilling site for the next trip was identified at a school/clinic in Mukuswas
The Sanitation unit at the Nasianda orphanage was completed as mentioned in our previous update. Thank you to all who gave towards this critical need, your generosity has ensured that these children not only still have a home and can receive an education, but it also ensures that they have access to sanitary toilets and handwashing facilities.
