Where we Work

Bringing Clean Water to the World

Learn more about Hope Springs Water in Athens, TX

Our work in Ethiopia:

Hope Springs Water has worked in Ethiopia since 2011. We seek to address the acute water and sanitation needs of rural regions through a holistic, community-based development approach. In January 2023, Hope Springs Water began a three-year initiative in Ethiopia in collaboration with Hope for Life, an Ethiopian non-profit organization. Hope Springs Water is partnering with local communities and governmental agencies to improve health and human development by increasing accessibility to clean water and sanitation facilities, improving public health, and expanding hygiene education. This project will run from January 2023 to December 2025 and will improve the well-being of approximately 33,852 underprivileged women, children, and families in rural regions of Ethiopia.

Our work in Nicaragua:

Nicaragua is the first country that Hope Springs Water partnered with, and fourteen years later, we are grateful to still have a presence there! Poverty in Nicaragua is highly concentrated in rural areas where over 40% of the population lives. As such, Hope Springs Waters’ projects have been largely based in rural regions, with our organization’s earliest projects serving remote indigenous communities along the Coco River. Now we are focused on improving WASH conditions along the Miskito Coast in the east of the country. Our vision for our work in Nicaragua is to see access to WASH facilities expanded in rural regions until safe water and sanitation are available to all people.

Our work in Guatemala:

Hope Springs Water’s work in Guatemala is just beginning! In 2022 and 2023, our Programs Team met with government officials and began looking for communities that had a need for our WASH programs. We have developed some crucial partnerships with Guatemalan drillers, and have started our WASH initiatives by drilling borehole wells in rural regions. We have encountered some set-backs during the drilling process, but continue to learn and adapt to the challenges of operating in a new region. We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the people of Guatemala to grow water and sanitation resources and improve health and hygiene education in vulnerable regions.

Our presence in Kenya:

Hope Springs Water does not maintain a WASH Zone in Kenya, but we do fund life-saving WASH projects around the country. In January 2024, one of Hope Springs Water’s partners in Kenya reached out to let us know that the NASIANDA Children's Home in Bungoma was going to be closed down unless they could improve the home’s sanitation facilities. This required the building of new pit latrines as well as provision of mosquito nets. After being able to assist in a similar situation in 2023, Hope Springs Water was very pleased to be able to step in and help these children keep their home. New pit latrines were completed and a very grateful (and much healthier) group of children owe much to people they will never meet.
