WASH ZONE UPDATES

Kenya:



In April, we heard from Pastor Moses Wafula in Kenya that the orphanage in Siboti desperately needed a new latrine building to enable it to stay open. Hope Springs Water had already partnered in the area and so we were very happy to be able to step in and help. With the support of the Ministry of Health, we were able to get a local engineer and contractor to start work immediately on this project to the delight of Pastor Moses and the children who live in that orphanage. A word from Pastor Moses, "We are pleased to write and share our new progress concerning the sanitary blocks at SIBOTI ORPHANAGE. The Engineer kicked off the construction of the toilets promptly and promised to do a quality job,  his work is above board and so commenced the construction as you may see on the photographs... My team and l take this opportunity to thank you HOPE SPRING WATER leadership ….May God bless you all….The Ministry of health officers has remained  a blessing especially in the area of supervision. They must satisfy that the works meet the required sanitary standards for public utilities. The modern toilets has renewed trust and hope among the children. They were wondering what will become of their fate in the events they are thrown out in the street. Other that these orphanage facilities, these dear ones are completely homeless.”

THANK YOU for your continued support. If we had not had the funds at hand to respond quickly, then the orphanage may have had to close down.

Ethiopia:

On 13th May a team of 5 volunteers led by Jim Palmer our Director of International Programs flew to Ethiopia for an 8 day trip. During that visit with the help of our Ethiopian colleagues they managed to successfully drill two wells at Gudelcha and Talgo Lemmeffa and help distribute 130 Menstrual Health Management kits (photo below). The numbers only tell part of the story. The impact on the lives of those who will benefit from the gift of clean water, from receiving education on health and hygiene or for the girls who now better understand how their bodies work and have menstrual supplies to help them stay in school, is priceless.

Hope Springs Water has already funded 7 wells in Ethiopia in 2023 and we are actively raising funds to drill at least 6 more this year. Will you consider helping us meet this goal of raising $60,000 to make this a reality?

Guatemala:

Our next trip to Guatemala is planned for October 2023. The first trip in February 2023 proved that our renovated drilling rig and equipment was fully functional and allowed us to assess future sites and make important relationships with Government Officials.

Nicaragua:

When it comes to training, Hope Springs Water is passionate about ensuring that our team leaders are fully equipped to do the work we ask of them. In July 2023 we are partnering with HydroLogica to train 9 current and future Team Leaders in Managua, Nicaragua. They will get to improve their current knowledge and skills on our own equipment, whilst also drilling two wells for the local community.
